Job Summary:

The International Criminal Court is seeking a highly skilled Senior Translator (French) (P-3) to join its Language Services Unit. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for translating and revising documents from English into French, working in a demanding but rewarding environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate and self-revise documents from English into French, covering a wide range of topics including legal, military, medical, forensic, human rights, administrative, and financial matters.
  • Proofread and cross-read the work of colleagues.
  • Contribute to terminology and reference databases.
  • Perform other tasks as required, such as transcribing audio/video material in French and/or IT-related tasks.

Requirements:

  • Advanced university degree in translation, interpretation, linguistics, law, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in translation, interpretation, or linguistics, preferably in an international organization.
  • Excellent eye for detail, accuracy, style, and usage.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant computer software, including Microsoft 365, Records Manager, Relativity One, CAT tools, and machine translation.
  • Proven ability and flexibility in working to deadlines effectively under pressure with evolving tasks and priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively and constructively as part of a multidisciplinary and multicultural team.
  • Ability to keep strict standards of confidentiality.
  • Openness to skills development.
  • Mother-tongue proficiency in French and a high-level proficiency in English.

What We Offer:

  • A two-year appointment with the possibility of extension (six-month probationary period).
  • A roster of suitable candidates may be established for this post as a result of this selection process for fixed-term appointments against both established posts and positions funded by general temporary assistance (GTA).
