Job Description

As a Data Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for leading a team of data engineers to design, build, and maintain our data infrastructure. This infrastructure supports our business intelligence, analytics, and data-driven decision-making processes. You will work closely with various departments to translate technical requirements into workable data solutions that align with business goals.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with internal teams (Sales, Operations) and external stakeholders (customers) to gather valuable input and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary liaison between the data engineering team and other departments, ensuring data solutions align with business goals.
  • Technical Development: Design and implement data architectures, pipelines, and storage solutions, engaging in hands-on coding, code reviews, and ensuring adherence to best practices in data engineering.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and providing growth opportunities for the team.
  • Project Management: Define project requirements and work with various departments to monitor the progress of data-related projects and participate in testing.
Key Challenges:
  • Address fragmented areas of accountability and uncertainties regarding data reliability.
  • Manage complex aspects of information management and analytics.
  • Stay updated on rapid developments in data technology.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • IT education, preferably at the bachelor's or master's level.
  • A minimum of five years of hands-on experience in data management or business analysis.
  • Expertise in data engineering, including database design, ETL processes, and programming languages such as SQL, Python, or Scala. Experience with cloud data technologies is a plus.
  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a data-driven mindset.
  • Self-directed, flexible, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills in both Dutch and English.
Working Conditions

This full-time position (32-40 hours per week) offers a competitive salary indication of €42,000 - €55,000, depending on experience and skills. You will report directly to the IT Director and collaborate closely with the BI team, Sales, Operations, and IT departments.
