Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic individual to take on the role of Director, Procurement for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region, focusing on Raw Materials. The successful candidate will oversee critical supplier relationships to ensure they align with the overarching business goals of International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF). This role involves developing and executing a strategic approach to sourcing a competitive and cost-efficient portfolio of raw materials across all manufacturing facilities within the region.
The individual will be responsible for managing raw material costs and performance metrics, guiding the organization in making informed decisions regarding commodity-based materials. This includes formulating sourcing strategies, establishing strategic objectives, and participating in category team meetings to ensure alignment with global, regional, and local business requirements. The position necessitates extensive external engagement with suppliers and a deep understanding of market dynamics and supply networks. This role plays a vital part in shaping key company, functional, and regional business strategies, as well as cost-saving initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of regional category strategies for assigned categories and sub-categories to secure raw material supply, manage expenses, and realize savings.
- Foster and manage relationships with key suppliers in the region.
- Regularly assess and disseminate market intelligence to support informed pricing decisions for the business and its customers.
- Implement a disciplined strategic sourcing methodology.
- Guide the team in conducting market intelligence and analysis.
- Assist in nurturing new and existing supplier partnerships to bolster growth strategies through innovation and technology.
- Identify potential risks and devise contingency plans to mitigate supply chain disruptions.
- Collaborate with team members to define optimization and continuous improvement initiatives in raw materials.
- Ensure suppliers meet quality and service KPIs through collaboration with various departments.
- Align with the Responsible Sourcing Team on supplier and ingredient risk assessments.
- Ensure suppliers are aware of IFF's sustainability objectives and have actionable plans to achieve them.
- Demonstrate experience in identifying, developing, and promoting supplier relationships.
- Engage cross-functionally with departments such as R&D, Commercial, Creation, Production, and Quality, and navigate matrix organizations effectively.
- Exhibit strong communication skills (both written and verbal) in English for global interactions.
- Demonstrate leadership, project management, and analytical capabilities.
Required Qualifications:
- Expertise in procurement within the relevant area, with in-depth knowledge and contacts in key supply markets (including commodities, processing chemicals, and other ingredients).
- Experience in team management.
- Relevant supply chain experience, particularly in raw materials, supplier relationship management, and best practices in supply chain operations.
- Strong understanding of business practices and financial implications.
- Certification in supply chain or procurement excellence (CPSM, SPSM, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle).
- A graduate degree, preferably an MBA or in supply chain and material science-related fields.
