Job Title: Freelance Translator


Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Freelance Translator to join our team at the International Criminal Court. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating documents from English to Filipino, Tagalog, or Cebuano, and vice versa.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Translate documents of various lengths and complexity, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
  • Collaborate with the LSU Translation Team to clarify ambiguities and build glossaries
  • Apply feedback provided by the LSU Translation Team to ensure delivery of a quality product
  • Meet deadlines and deliver translations within the required timeframe

Requirements:



  • High-level proficiency in English and the source language (Filipino, Tagalog, or Cebuano)
  • Experience in translation or a related field, preferably in a legal or human rights setting
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in CAT tools
  • Excellent eye for detail, accuracy, style, and usage
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities

Working Conditions:


The Freelance Translator will work remotely and be required to communicate regularly with the LSU Translation Team and other stakeholders. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and manage their time effectively.


Assessment and Selection:


Candidates will be assessed based on their language proficiency, experience, and skills. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview and may be required to provide a writing sample or participate in a translation test.


Security Clearance:


The successful candidate will be required to undergo a security clearance process, which may include a background check and other screening procedures.


Contract Terms:


The Freelance Translator will be engaged on a contract basis, with the specific terms of the contract to be agreed upon between the International Criminal Court and the successful candidate.
