As a Lead Engineer in the towage sector, you will be pivotal in ensuring the effective functioning of all machinery within the engine room. Your role encompasses overseeing the operation and safety of onboard systems, while also enhancing operational productivity and adherence to safety protocols during towing activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Supervise engine room staff, particularly on larger towage vessels.
- Oversee the functionality, upkeep, and repair of machinery and systems, focusing on the specific requirements of towing operations.
- Plan and implement maintenance and repair tasks, prioritizing the reliability of critical systems during towing missions.
- Ensure adherence to both international and local maritime laws, with a strong focus on regulations pertinent to towage.
- Manage logistics concerning fuel, oil, lubricants, and other vital supplies to support efficient towing operations.
- Serve as the essential communication link between the Master and engine room personnel, facilitating clear coordination during towing assignments.
Qualifications:
- Required certifications such as STCW, including a valid Chief Engineer competency.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Chief Engineer, ideally within the towage industry.
- Comprehensive understanding of machinery and systems relevant to towage.
- Profound knowledge of maritime regulations and safety protocols specific to towage.
- Strong command of the English language, both spoken and written.
