Job Title: Chief Engineer Towage

Job Summary:

As a Chief Engineer in towage, you will be the driving force behind the optimal operation of all equipment in the engine room. Your responsibilities include the operation and safety of the machinery and systems on board, ensuring compliance with safety procedures and flawless execution of towing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the engine room personnel on larger towage vessels.
  • Monitor the operation, maintenance, and repair of machinery and systems, with special attention to the unique needs of towing operations.
  • Plan and execute maintenance and repair work, with a focus on the reliability of key systems during towing actions.
  • Ensure compliance with international and local maritime legislation, with an emphasis on towage-specific regulations.
  • Coordinate logistics around fuel, oil, lubricants, and other essential supplies for effective towing operations.
  • Act as the link between the Master and the engine room personnel to ensure clear communication and coordination during towing missions.

Requirements:

  • Mandatory certifications such as STCW, including a valid competency as Chief Engineer.
  • At least 2 years of experience as Chief Engineer, preferably within towage.
  • Extensive knowledge of machinery and systems related to towage.
  • In-depth knowledge of maritime regulations and safety procedures within towage.
  • Excellent command of the English language, verbal and written.
  • Proven leadership qualities and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work under high pressure and respond effectively in emergency situations.
