Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Payload System Engineer to join our team at Space Applications Services, a leading provider of space technology solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in the system engineering of payload infrastructures and facilities for the International Commercial Experiment (ICE) Cubes Service.

The ICE Cubes Service is a unique opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project that enables customers to conduct research and experiments on the International Space Station (ISS). As a Payload System Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team that designs, develops, and operates the payload infrastructure and facilities for the ICE Cubes Service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Requirements engineering and verification for payload infrastructures and facilities
  • System design and interface control for mechanical, electrical, electronics, and software components
  • COTS subsystem selection, procurement, and qualification
  • Assessing safety aspects in the human spaceflight environment
  • Supporting the assembly, integration, validation, and testing of payloads and flight hardware, GSE, and ground models
  • Coordinating with customers to develop and certify payloads for the platforms served by the ICE Cubes Service
  • Establishing the technical framework for the extension of the ICE Cubes service to new platforms
Requirements
  • Master's degree in space systems, mechanical, or electrical/electronic engineering, or a related field
  • Good knowledge of the ISS environment for payloads and ISS boundary conditions
  • Experience with full development cycles, from requirements engineering to campaign testing
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English
