Hotel Okura Amsterdam is a renowned international five-star hotel that embodies the perfect blend of Japanese and Dutch culture.

We are seeking an enthusiastic culinary expert to join our team and contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests. If you have a passion for fine cuisine and excellent service, this opportunity is tailored for you.

The Main Kitchen is the heart of our F&B operations, responsible for preparing dishes and products for various departments, including Le Camelia, Room Service, Lobby Bar, and Banquet Operations. As one of the largest and most successful 5-star hotels in the Netherlands, we strive for excellence in quality and profitability.

As a Fine Dining Culinary Expert, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing diverse and exquisite dishes to exacting standards;
  • Maintaining impeccable cleanliness and organization within the kitchen;
  • Developing innovative menu items and contributing to product development;
  • Providing suggestions to the Chef and collaborating on recipe refinement;
  • Ensuring exceptional presentation, taste, texture, and color quality of food items;
  • Instructing and advising colleagues and trainees;
  • Cultivating a positive and efficient work environment.

You will work closely with other departments to achieve seamless collaboration and deliver outstanding results. Your schedule may involve shifts throughout a 7-day workweek, with varying hours and flexibility to accommodate events and departmental needs.

Our benefits package includes:

  • A contract of 1 year, with potential for extension;
  • A salary in Group 5 (based on full-time employment);
  • Bonus: 1 week's salary upon meeting certain performance criteria;
  • 8% holiday allowance (pro rata);
  • 25 vacation days per year (pro rata);
  • Compensation for National Holidays;
  • Horeca CAO applies;
  • General Pension Scheme of Hospitality and Catering;
  • General Survivors pension;
  • Attractive staff rates on overnight stays at Hotel Okura Amsterdam;
  • Staff discount in our restaurants (20%);
  • Study budget of €1,000;
  • Complimentary overnight stay with breakfast after completing the probationary period.

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • SVH or similar certification;
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for innovation;
  • Relevant work experience (2–5 years) in a reputable hospitality company;
  • Fluent English and/or Dutch language skills;
  • Flexibility and independence;
  • Residence in Amsterdam or surrounding area.
