We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD researcher to join our team at Eindhoven University of Technology. The successful candidate will work on the synthesis of novel thermosetting polymers for coatings that are more amenable to recycling.
Research FocusThe PhD research will focus on the design and synthesis of new monomers, including the use of bio-based raw materials, preparation of thermosets, and elucidation of structure-property relationships. The research will also involve chemical depolymerization, separation, and recovery of building blocks, as well as proof of concept for closed-loop recycling.
Key Responsibilities- Design and synthesis of new monomers
- Preparation of thermosets and elucidation of structure-property relationships
- Chemical depolymerization, separation, and recovery of building blocks
- Proof of concept for closed-loop recycling
- MSc degree in polymer chemistry, organic chemistry, or a related discipline
- Experience with the synthesis and characterization of polymers or organic molecules
- Analytical skills, initiative, and creativity
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and collaborate with industrial partners
- Fluent in spoken and written English (C1 level)
- Full-time employment for four years
