Qualifications and qualities:
A Ph.D. Degree from an accredited college or university in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science or a related life sciences field; With at least 5 years of research and project management experience in a metabolomics lab; With minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience using mass spectrometry; Knowledge in advanced understanding of metabolomics, Metabolic flux analysis (MFA), pharmacokinetics (PK), and analytical chemistry; Proficiency in laboratory methods for mass spectrometry-based metabolic analysis of biological samples derived from human studies and animal models; Capable of conducting both routine and complex laboratory experiments required for metabolomics study; Strong data analysis, troubleshooting, and maintenance of equipment capabilities; Familiarity with various types of mass spectrometry such as GC-MS and/or LC-MS (advantageous); An excellent communication skill and the ability to work collaboratively in a team; A desire to contribute to this innovative academic research environment is crucial.Responsibilities:
Conduct and manage metabolomic profiling and disease phenotyping projects; Develop and maintain reliable and productive gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) based metabolomics platforms, ensuring efficient day-to-day operation of the metabolomic lab; Assist the Principal Investigator (PI) in planning, scheduling, budgeting, leading technical teams, organizing research projects, and supervising graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and visiting scholars; Develop standard operating procedures for metabolomics profiling, quality control, data analysis, and data storage and management; Order consumables and disposables required by research projects and maintain accurate inventory/records of experimental materials; Work closely with investigators, supporting staff, and administrative personnel to meet research needs and comply with institutional requirements; Assist the PI in purchasing, installing, and maintaining all lab equipment; Develop new methods, validate working protocols, and seek necessary certifications or accreditations for preclinical and clinical studies; Uphold bio-safety standards by maintaining bio-safety records, surveys, and inventories in the lab as mandated by the institutionA highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
