**Mechanical & Optical Lab Supervisor**:
Provides leadership and support in coordinating and enabling Mechanical and Optical laboratory related test methods and equipment related activities to ensure product development and product/material release testing, equipment validation and maintenance and Project work, while ensuring compliance with quality standards and production schedules.

Optimizes systems and processes that are aligned with J&J Surgical Vision’s strategy and mission, drives continuous improvement through data driven approaches and monitoring of quality systems.

**Duties & responsibilities**:

- Oversees MO lab activities and manages workflows to ensure production and product development testing targets are met, ensuring continuous improvement and driving down variance in test methodology
- Develop, implement and evaluate goals and objectives applicable for the MO lab.
- Is responsible for implementation of methods and procedures for inspection, testing and evaluation. Is responsible for updating and maintaining the procedures and work instructions with respect to regulation/ISO changes.
- Ensures equipment requirements for laboratory area are set up to meet the needs of the business.
- Ensures Laboratory Systems and Equipment are maintained in a compliant state
- Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees and developing personal growth opportunities. Ensures that all direct personnel are properly trained to perform their assigned functions in accordance with applicable procedures.
- Leads or aids in the execution of validation and verification activities associated with process, equipment and test methods.
- Supports the development/maintenance of Test Method Development and Validation
- Ensures effective closure on Quality Systems documents (Audit Actions, Nonconformances, CAPAs, etc.)
- Provides input to quality control and business reports, requirements and other information in response to requests for proposals, quotes and other business opportunities.
- Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures including safety.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laboratory regulations, standards and procedures

**Experience & Education**:
**Education**:
Educated to a senior vocational education level in Mechanical/Biomedical Engineering related discipline, BSc or equivalent qualification.

**Work experience**:
A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a regulated environment, preferably in the execution of testing and development/validation of test methods.

**Required knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications/licenses and affiliations**:
Specific knowledge:

- Knowledge of GMP and ISO 13485
- Knowledge of relevant work instructions and procedures
