About the Role

We're looking for an experienced GCP Data Engineer (Teradata) to join our growing digital data team in Amsterdam.

You'll be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing data warehouse solutions, leveraging both Teradata and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) technologies to deliver high-performance data pipelines and analytics capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable data warehouse solutions using Teradata and cloud platforms (preferably GCP).
  • Develop and optimize BTEQ scripts for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
  • Collaborate with data architects to define and maintain data models and data integration flows.
  • Drive migration initiatives from Teradata to GCP or other cloud platforms (Azure/AWS).
  • Ensure high performance, reliability, and maintainability of Teradata instances.
  • Manage database procedures such as upgrade, backup, recovery, and migration.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure smooth data delivery aligned with business goals.

Must-Have Technical Skills

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Teradata

Expertise in Teradata native utilities – BTEQ, TPT, FastLoad, etc.

Strong proficiency in BTEQ scripting for ETL processes

Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, or AWS)

Solid grasp of data modeling concepts and techniques

Proven experience in Teradata performance optimization

Skilled in SQL analysis and query optimization

Experience with ETL tools like Informatica

Knowledge of MS SQL Server and BigQuery

Familiarity with Java or Python programming

Excellent communication and organizational skills

Nice to Have

Hands-on experience in Teradata-to-GCP migration projects

Exposure to data modernization initiatives in cloud ecosystems

Strong analytical mindset and a problem-solving attitude
