Internship Risk Culture

We are seeking a motivated intern to join the Risk Culture & Behavioural Risk department (RC&BR) at ING. The RC&BR department was set up in March 2022 to put risk culture on the agenda of the bank globally. Its objective is to create a clear vision, a well-aligned strategy, and a sound methodology to identify, assess, and bring change to the way employees of ING act on risks.

The team
The internship is in the
Risk Culture &
Behavioural Risk Assessment team
. This team works on detecting areas within the bank that are prone to behavioural risks, and conducts
Behavioural Risk Assessments
across the bank to identify and thoroughly analyse high-risk behavioural patterns and its drivers. After a Behavioural Risk Assessment, the Assessment team hands over to the Risk Culture & Behavioural Risk Intervention team, who work together with the business to mitigate the identified behavioural risks through behavioural interventions that impact all levels of the organization.

In addition to conducting Behavioural Risk Assessments, the team is also responsible for monitoring INGs Risk Culture by developing and maintaining the
Risk Culture Maturity Report
. The team produces the Risk Culture Maturity Report every year to create insights for the Management Board Banking (MBB) and local ING entities to have a meaningful conversation about INGs Risk Culture.

Roles And Responsibilities
As part of this new and enthusiastic team, you work in a global context. We offer
hands-on
and
research internships
for master's students:

• During a hands-on internship, you will be a fully-fledged member of our team, working on behavioural risk assessments, conducting interviews and observations, and helping to build reports with key messages. This allows you to learn about all aspects of our team's activities first-hand.
• During a research internship, you conduct research on a topic agreed upon with your mentor at ING and university supervisor. We have several topics that could be relevant for a thesis, such as speak-up behaviour, risk culture or behavioural risk. While working on your thesis, you will also support the team on various projects related to risk culture and behavioural risk.

The minimum total hours of the internship is 480 hours, and the maximum is 840 hours. Within this bandwidth we are flexible. Both types of internships will give you the opportunity to gain valuable work experience while discovering whether a position at ING is something you aspire.

We are looking for a talented and motivated master's student who:

• Beliefs that working on risk culture and behavioural risk is key for a bank
• Has a background in organizational psychology, or other relevant expertise
• Has affinity with understanding behaviour in organisations
• Is enthusiastic about working with quantitative and qualitative data
• Is collaborative and always strives to learn and grow
• Is fluent in (business) English
