We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist with a strong background in rule-based systems and advanced analytics to join a leading financial institution's Transaction Monitoring team. Your mission would be to build and optimize models that help detect money laundering in a dynamic, high-impact environment.

In this role you'll be responsible for end-to-end model development, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure models are accurate, scalable, and production-ready. Among your responsibilities are also:

  • Design, develop, and implement rule-based models to detect suspicious transaction patterns;
  • Contribute to the future introduction of advanced analytics techniques, including machine learning;
  • Lead collaboration with business, IT, and architecture to ensure models are production-ready;
  • Act as a mentor and thought leader within the data science team;
  • Take ownership of the full model lifecycle, from design through implementation.

Must-haves:

  • MSc or PhD in Data Science, Econometrics, Mathematics, or related field';
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in advanced analytics/modeling using Python, PySpark, and Spark;
  • Proven track record of taking data science models into production environments;
  • Strong communicator in English.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with Azure Databricks;
  • Strong interest in fighting financial crime and delivering business impact (not just building complex models);
  • Structured, proactive mindset with business focus and a collaborative approach.

This interim position starts from January 5, 2026, to the end of December, 2026, offering a full-time engagement of 36 hours per week. The monthly salary ranges between €6,000 and €7,800, depending on experience and qualifications. Are you interested?
