About the Role

Are you passionate about tackling complex data challenges that make a real societal impact? Join a leading financial institution in strengthening its fight against Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing. You'll work on one of the largest and most advanced Transaction Monitoring (TM) data platforms in the country.

In this senior role, you'll design, build, and scale high-performance data solutions that power advanced analytics and Machine Learning models used to detect criminal behaviour. You will play a key role in modernising the TM platform, shaping infrastructure decisions, and guiding more junior team members on engineering best practices.

What You'll Do

  • Build scalable components and pipelines for data processing using
    Python
    and
    PySpark
    (Big Data environment).
  • Analyse data sources and outputs to identify quality issues and ensure accurate model behaviour.
  • Anticipate future performance or infrastructure challenges and design long-term technical solutions.
  • Test, monitor, and optimise TM engine performance.
  • Collaborate closely with platform, IT, architecture, and data science teams to ensure model and pipeline reliability.
  • Act as a key collaborator for management on technical decisions and platform strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own major parts of the TM data infrastructure—driving quality, scalability, and engineering excellence across the team.
  • Lead alignment with architecture, IT, and data science to improve model performance and stability.
  • Serve as a senior technical counterpart to stakeholders and management.

Your Skills & Experience

  • MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Econometrics, or another STEM field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development, data engineering, or advanced analytics.
  • Strong hands-on skills with
    Python
    ,
    PySpark
    , and preferably
    Azure Databricks
    .
  • Experience with software engineering best practices: Git, CI/CD, release management, unit testing, testing strategy.
  • Proven ability to build large-scale, efficient, and reliable data systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English; Dutch is a strong advantage).
  • Genuine motivation to contribute to the fight against financial crime.
