Are you ready to help shape the future of modern workplace security? ING in Amsterdam is looking for a Security Engineer to work across key components of their Security Services, with a strong focus on risk management, employee experience and large scale operational excellence.

As a Security Engineer, you will contribute to the strategic product vision and backlog for Security Services across a global environment. The role sits at the intersection of Microsoft Defender technologies and Microsoft Purview capabilities, ensuring a seamless, compliant and scalable experience for ING's workforce.

The team

The Security Engineer joins a global team within People and Hubs/Workplace Services, with colleagues in the Netherlands and the Philippines. In this role you will collaborate closely with the Security Product Owner, the IT Area Lead, the Chapter Lead and engineers across multiple squads to help define and drive the strategic direction of Workplace Security Services.

Roles and responsibilities

In this international squad, you will maintain and improve the security services landscape, always with employee satisfaction in mind. Because SaaS vendors release new features constantly, you will help keep pace with developments and contribute proactively with feature requests.

A key part of this role involves managing vulnerabilities on endpoints. This includes identifying affected devices based on CVEs, coordinating communication strategies with internal teams to notify impacted users, managing related tickets and responding to enquiries. Your actions play an essential role in ensuring timely mitigation and clear communication around endpoint vulnerabilities.

You will also collaborate frequently with major technology partners such as Microsoft and JAMF. As ING operates in a highly regulated financial sector, strong processes and precise administration are required. Improving, simplifying and automating these processes is part of your mission. The team delivers a 24/7 global service, meaning you will participate in a rotation for third line incident handling, administrative tasks and standby duties.

Education and experience

You have:

– A degree in Computer Science, IT Audit, Business Administration or related fields, or equivalent work experience.

– Experience with endpoint protection platforms, preferably Microsoft Defender.

– Knowledge of Microsoft Purview solutions, including Data Loss Prevention, Information Protection and Insider Risk Management.

– Experience coordinating user communication and follow up during security incidents.

– Hands on experience with vulnerability management tools and CVE based remediation.

– Professional experience with Microsoft 365 in a multinational enterprise, ideally supported by certifications (Microsoft 365 and security such as CISSP, CISM).

– Experience in highly regulated environments such as financial institutions.

– Understanding of outsourcing models at operational, tactical and strategic levels.

Personal skills

You are detail oriented and capable of managing multiple vulnerability cases simultaneously. You can translate technical information into clear communication for both technical and non technical audiences. You have a track record of being the point of contact for your team, enjoy coaching others and actively develop your own expertise. Strong stakeholder management skills at all organisational levels are essential.

What we offer:

• 12 months contract with the possibility of extension, aiming for internal employment at ING after 18 months.
• A 36 or 40 hour workweek with flexible hours and a hybrid working model (office and home-based).
• Salary range: € €7.460 gross per month (based on 36 hours per week, based on experience).
