Intern - Molecular Biology – Discovery & Technology
Welcome to our team
The D&T department is an essential hub in our organization. This department is focused on the early-stage research of vaccine technologies. The team consists of about 40 employees, all of whom have extensive knowledge and experience in different vaccine technology fields like microbiology, vaccine formulation, immunology, vaccine analysis, cell biology and virology. The team works closely with other departments within the company to achieve the stated goals.
Your internship assignment
As an intern, you will be responsible for expressing polysaccharides from pathogenic bacteria in standard laboratory hosts. These polysaccharides are very immunogenic and good vaccine candidates, but their classical production require culturing the pathogen, which is associated with different specific production problems. Heterologous expression in standard host will simplify this step.
Your Responsibilities
- DNA cloning, protein and polysaccharide expression
- Chemical and immunological analysis
- Literature research and critical scientific thinking
- Providing a fresh perspective to the department by sharing your opinion
The described tasks form the basic package and will often be performed independently after a proper training and learning period. These tasks may be supplemented with other projects and/or tasks on your own initiative or at the request of the organization.
What Is Required
- A final year B.Sc or M.Sc student in the field of Life Sciences
- Preferably, you are familiar with vaccines and bacteria
- You are fluent in English, both written and verbal
- You are available for a period of 6-9 months for 5 days a week
