Vice Chairman Private Markets

The Private Markets team is part of the Financial Institutions sector team and is covering the main private markets areas of private equity and infrastructure sponsors as well as real asset managers of banks, sovereign wealth funds, family offices and other alternative capital providers on a global basis.
The primary responsibility of the team is to manage these relationships, coordinating across products and geographies to explore and maximise lead financing and cross-buy opportunities, in close coordination with product and sector partners. This involves regular interaction with Leveraged Finance, Corporate Finance, Fund Finance, Financial Markets, Transaction Services and other Sector teams. The aim is to grow the team to +/- 30 FTE with teams in UK, US, APAC and main European countries (NL, FR, Germany…). The current scope represents +/- 100 clients spread over US, EMEA and APAC with a total income of 700mio EUR.

The Role
The role of the Senior Banker is to elevate existing strategic relationships, ensuring ING is deeply connected, and well positioned, to the relevant Private Markets firm. The focus should be
enhancing relationships with investments teams, as well as C-Suite members, complimenting many of the strong capital markets relationships already in existence.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Undertake senior banker role for selected Private Markets clients with ability to have strategy discussions with senior stakeholders
• Ensure "Top of the House" connectivity between the relevant Private Markets firm and ING where regionally relevant
• Identify and drive cross-buy opportunities, with a focus on M&A and fee driven events
• Be an active member of internal deal teams to drive and coordinate origination
• Contribute to strategic account planning and performance reviews in order to allocate scarce resources in the right relationships
• Ensure deal and positioning alignment with key stakeholders (senior sector bankers, CMA product experts) to maximise ING's ability to collectively position ourselves towards clients and for key mandates

Candidate Profile

Experience/Knowledge

• Knowledge of relevant financial sponsor product suite with appetite to develop further
• Preferably network of existing relationships within financial sponsor universe
• Minimum 15 years' experience primarily in investment or corporate banking, as well as
• Financial Markets and Transaction Services
• Credit risk experience
