Design Manager

The main tasks/responsibilities of the Design Manager are:

Design & enigneering

 Knowledge of and experience with datacenter design standards such as UPTIME Tier III,

EN50600 Level 3 and TSI Standard V4.5 Level 3.

 Architectural design: with local architect develop a design with enough power

connectivity and redundancy to obtain a permit for the desired IT-capacity, with approval

of the corresponding noise levels and emissions.

 Lead, optimise and coordinate the electrical design. The electrical design includes

amongst others single line diagrams, load-balances, cable calculations and lists, shortcircuit

and selectivity studies, back-up installation design (DGR and UPS) and fuel

installation design.

 Lead, optimise and coordinate the mechanical design team:

o Piping- and appendages design;

o Piping and instrumentation diagrams;

o Heat- and cooling calculations;

o Pressure loss calculation;

o Ventilation design (comfort / humidity regulation).

 Lead, optimise and coordinate the fire detection, alarming and suppression design:

o Fire integrity and routing;

o Fire detection and alarming installation plans;

o Fire extinguishing installation plans.

 Lead, optimise and coordinate the security design:

o Security zone design;

o Access- and intrusion system design;

o Camera system design.

 Lead, optimise and coordinate the overall system design of the building management

system.

 Lead, optimise and coordinate the telecommunication design:

o Lay-out and routing plans of telecommunication cables;

o Type of materials and set-up.

 Lead, optimise and coordinate the datacenter management system and managed network

infrastructure, together with the operations and ICT-team colleagues.

 Engineering: lead the design team of structural engineer, geotechnical engineer, building

physics advisor (noise etc.), fire safety, installations, environmental advisor, ecologist and

possibly others to further optimise and detail the design towards a permission to build.

Design management

 Lead the design phase with support of our development manager for upgrade and

expansion projects together with (junior) engineer, architect and advisors.

 Lead the technical quality and building process during the realisation phase, overall lead

by the development manager.

 Manage and oversee the commission phase.

Support

 Support the investment team with drawings and insights during site acquisitions from

technical due diligence phase.

 Support on site datacenter engineers.

The profile of our Design Manager:

We seeks a hands-on, proactive, accurate and flexible person with strong analytical skills.

In particular we look for:

 A person who enjoys working with the complexity of an integral design from concept

through to delivery stage;

 B.Sc. or M.Sc. educated engineer (electrical or mechanical engineering);

 Work permit for EU and residing in The Netherlands;

 5-10 years work experience in datacenter, hospital hot floors, marine or other mission

critical installation industry. Previous experience with datacenters is preferred;

 A team player who likes to solve complex technical problems and, even under pressure,

goes for quality;

 Willingness to travel abroad;

 Awareness of machine safety & RAMS;

 Knowledgeable in Visio, AutoCAD, Revit and other and Autodesk applications & MS

Office;

 Professional proficiency in Dutch and English, with proficiency in German or French

would be beneficial;

 Candidates who have experience in sustainability engineering have an advantage.
