The role
With our innovative approach to warehousing and supply chain management, we continuously strive for growth and improvement. To support this ambition, we are looking for a Continuous Improvement Specialist who will play a key role in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement while collaborating with Operational Excellence colleagues across our 7 different sites. Your main challenge? Helping to change the mindset of customers, colleagues, and the organization towards continuous improvement and accountability. You will do this by:
- Being visibly present on the shop floor and acting as a sounding board for management, supervisors, team leaders, and their teams on CI-related topics.
- Promoting the CI philosophy and explaining it to employees at all levels using the Rhenus Lean Maturity Model.
- Supporting teams and team leaders in their development in the field of Continuous Improvement.
- Coaching managers and team leaders in implementing CI and improvement projects within their teams.
- Creating transparency around CI progress and reporting on it regularly to the management team.
- Advising the site manager and management team on the rollout and implementation of the CI philosophy.
- Delivering workshops and contributing to the preparation and execution of CI training sessions.
- Working together with other CI colleagues within the CI team to define CI plans for the organization in the short and medium term.
- Leading improvement projects using PDCA and DMAIC methodologies.
The Continuous Improvement Specialist reports to the Lead Continuous Improvement.

What You Bring:
As a CI Specialist, you are skilled at identifying opportunities to streamline and optimize processes. With your experience in change management, you know how to successfully implement change within an organization. You are a strong communicator, collaborate easily, and know how to manage, motivate, and inspire others to embrace continuous improvement. This enables you to complete improvement projects in a sustainable and successful manner. Additionally, you bring:
- HBO-level working and thinking capacity, preferably in Industrial Engineering / Business Engineering.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, enabling you to translate data into actionable insights.
- Fluency in Dutch and English.
- Basic knowledge of Lean Management and Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies.
- Creativity and strong communication skills.
- Basic understanding of logistics processes or lean manufacturing.
- Experience in a CI role, middle management, or change management is a plus.
- A Green Belt and/or Lean certification is an advantage.
About Rhenus Warehousing Solutions Netherlands
Rhenus Warehousing Solutions Netherlands is currently active at 6 locations and will expand to the Utrecht region from 2026 onwards. We offer a wide range of logistics services, including warehousing, order picking, and value-added services. In addition, we provide managed services such as customer service, import and export documentation, and sales support. In this way, we take all logistics concerns off our customers' hands.
