About the role

This role (a freelance contract) will provide hands-on support on a historical external audit for multiple years and drive forward the audits to completion. The Audit Project Assistant will report to the Amsterdam Finance Director with a dotted line to the UK Financial Controller and liaise with the auditors to ensure audit requests are handled efficiently, data is well-organized, and deadlines are met.

About you

A freelance finance professional with audit experience to work 100% focused on delivery of audit requests relating to the multi-year historical audit. Someone who is able to understand what is needed and find the relevant records – this could be in electronic or hard copy form.

Key skills and attributes

  • Experience of the external audit process, preferably from the in-house view
  • Qualification in Accounting and Finance (or currently pursuing)
  • Proactive self-starter who is able to work independently but also as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented with good problem-solving ability
  • Comfortable working with financial data
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience of finance and ledger systems
  • Comfortable working in English in an international team
  • Assist in preparing audit schedules, reports, and supporting documentation
  • Coordinate with internal teams to gather requested information for the auditors
  • Maintain organized records of submissions and follow-ups
  • Help ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data provided
  • Support the finance team in ad-hoc tasks related to audit and compliance
