Job Title:
Application Engineer / Administrator

Project Background:

Our client's ICT Operations and Infrastructure unit is seeking a skilled Application Engineer/Administrator on a temporary consultancy basis. You will join a team of 14 professionals responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing the institution's critical ICT application systems and operations. The role operates within an ITIL-based framework in a matrix environment, with potential utilization of Agile methodologies. You will report to a senior team member and a line manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Application Management: Install, configure, and administer applications across production and non-production environments.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor applications, tune for performance, and drive continuous improvement of service efficiency and quality.
  • Support & Maintenance: Handle incident resolution, change management, release deployment, and problem analysis.
  • Documentation: Create, validate, and maintain procedure manuals, troubleshooting guides, and backup/restore plans.
  • Automation: Automate recurring administrative tasks to improve operational efficiency and document technical support procedures.
  • Knowledge Management: Contribute to the maintenance and growth of the technical knowledgebase supporting all ICT Operations activities.

    Generate reports on application availability, performance metrics, capacity planning, and usage.

Required Profile & Qualifications:

Education & Experience (Mandatory):

  • University degree (4 years + 9 years' experience or 3 years + 10 years' experience).
  • Minimum 6 years in mid-to-large scale IT infrastructure environments, covering deployment, support, and maintenance of applications.
  • Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in application administration.
  • Minimum 5 years working with enterprise-level Microsoft or Linux server solutions.
  • Minimum 2 years experience with micro-services, container orchestration, and container-based stacks (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Minimum 2 years administering and supporting Elasticsearch.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Public or Hybrid Cloud services (Azure or AWS).

Technical Knowledge (Mandatory):

  • Deployment and administration of Elasticsearch clusters.
  • Knowledge of micro-services architectures, Kubernetes, Helm charts, Docker, and Rancher.
  • Experience with configuration management (Puppet, Ansible, Chocolatey).
  • Scripting with Shell and/or PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes, including incident, change, and release management.

Desirable Technical Knowledge:

  • Understanding of DevOps principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of relational databases (MS SQL, PostgreSQL) and their application integration.
  • Experience with Kong API Gateway.
  • Relevant certifications in the above technologies.

Language:

  • Working knowledge of English (B2 level or higher) is required.
