Lead Inspection Coordinator

The Lead Inspection Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that equipment and services are inspected and delivered in full compliance with budget constraints, contractual obligations, required quantities, quality standards, and project specifications.

This role focuses on monitoring and managing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for critical packages on an FPSO, such as large mechanical and rotating equipment and modular skid fabrications. From order execution through final delivery, the Lead Inspection Coordinator ensures that vendor quality and inspection activities fully comply with contractual requirements and technical specifications.

The position involves direct coordination and oversight of third-party inspection activities within the assigned purchase order scope. A "no carry-over work" approach is followed, emphasizing the completion of all inspection activities prior to material collection, with diligent closure of punch lists and outstanding work items.

The role works closely with the project team, including Package Managers, Project Procurement Managers, Expeditors, and Package Engineers.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with vendors to achieve shared project objectives in compliance with company requirements and applicable local and international regulations.
• Interface with internal and external stakeholders involved in expediting, inspection, logistics, and material control activities, including agencies, freight forwarders, customs, and regulatory authorities.
• Attend kick-off meetings relevant to the assigned scope, conduct pre-inspection meetings, and attend witness/hold points at vendor premises as required.
• Review and manage vendor Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) documentation to ensure compliance with project specifications and client requirements.
• Develop and maintain a Supplier Inspection Plan (SIP) for the assigned scope of work.
• Ensure that critical issues identified during inspection visits are promptly communicated to the Package Manager, Package Engineer, and Project Procurement Manager.
• Ensure project procedures for issuing Inspection Release Certificates, Inspection Waivers, and punch lists are properly implemented.
• Monitor and report, through Field Inspectors, that third-party and classification inspection requirements are identified in supplier ITPs, implemented during purchase order execution, and completed prior to issuance of Inspection Release Certificates.
• Evaluate and approve technically competent field inspection personnel and supporting documentation.
• Ensure all inspectors assigned to the project are fully familiar with project procedures and inspection requirements.
• Review inspection deliverables from Field Inspectors, ensuring timely issuance of Inspection Reports, Non-Conformance Reports, Inspection Release Notes, and Punch List/Outstanding Work Lists.
• Participate in defining package inspection levels and inspection matrices, maintain inspection trackers with the support of Inspection Assistants, and liaise with certifying authorities and clients for inspection involvement.
• Coordinate with engineering, construction, client, and certifying authority representatives to ensure appropriate participation during pre-fabrication meetings, inspections, and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), as required by the project.
• Monitor HSSE performance related to inspection activities and take action when necessary.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree from a recognized university in Engineering or a related commercial or technical discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in inspection coordination roles.
• Strong knowledge of oil and gas industry quality standards and inspection/testing requirements for complex equipment.
• At least 5 years of experience handling complex oil and gas packages such as gas compressors, gas turbines, and process modules.
• Previous experience as a field inspector is an advantage.
• Certifications such as NACE, NDT, and CompEX/IECEx are advantageous.
• Strong understanding of quality and inspection documentation, including ITPs, technical specifications, FAT procedures, manufacturing processes, and quality assurance plans.
• Willingness to travel periodically to vendor sites or project locations as required.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
