The role
In this Lead Financial Analyst, Commercial Programs & Excellence (CBO Trading) role you will be part of a dynamic, international and fast-paced team, working in the scope of the entire commercial organisation (all BUs and all Verticals). This position is based in our headquarters in Amsterdam and will report to the Lead Manager of FP&A, Commercial Programs & Excellence.

This position offers the opportunity to drive financial decision making within You will be required to provide strong financial and analytical support to your business unit (BU) or department's stakeholders. You will have to bridge what the data tell you and how that could help decision-making on a wide array of topics. You will be supporting the planning and forecasting cycles for both financial and operational business metrics. This includes revenues, expenses and other important KPIs; it also includes non-financial metrics and driver metrics of performance. You will also be involved in reporting versus budget and forecast and support on ad-hoc analyses whenever there is a need from the business.

Specific to this Lead Financial Analyst, Commercial Programs & Excellence role, you will work in the Commercial Programs & Excellence team in FP&A. This team is being repositioned to support the entire FP&A organisation, not just Accommodations, which means reporting lines now shift under the leadership of SD Trips/Marketplace umbrella. This team will drive forward FP&A's and 's cross unit commercial insights capabilities and excellence, advance our modeling and forecasting capabilities (e.g. Accomm-Forecast-Revamp that has been kicked off), scalable use of Data and AI, and cross functional decision governance. This team will take ownership of cross commercial decision making processes like the commercial board, decision-making-excellence like the ROI framework for all verticals, and processes related to revenue model business cases from templates to tracking and reporting. In order to achieve these expanded objectives and to help drive forward our Future Fit Vision for FP&A, this team will be increased in size.

Major output responsibilities of this area include:

• CBO/CFO Level Cross-BU Decision Governance Drive the cross-functional and cross-business-unit trading and decision making cadence for at the CBO/CFO level. This includes meetings that cross multiple BUs, trade off between them, and so on (and/or with escalations to CBO/CFO); it excludes within-BU and within-vertical governance and decision making. Example meeting: Commercial Operations Board, Weekly Variable Margin meetings, but more can be defined (weekly for eg) with different purposes.

• Define and prepare the content preparation, and ensure all FP&A teams are supporting as needed - along with business stakeholders

• Run the meeting, notes, and next steps; ensure next steps are followed up
• Ensure investment decisions, when made, are tracked and recorded as part of FP&A processes
• Deploy best practices and work of the Decision Making Excellence processes, and ideally cascade decisions where possible to BU Trading

This is a hands-on role, given we do not today have automated and systematised processes for all of these things. Expect team members to actively drive meetings, drive analysis themselves, and partner with the entire FP&A organisation.

• Immediate Trading & Weekly Performance-Bridge, In Partnership With Corp Operate and coordinate the consolidation, alignment and automation of FP&A commercial drivers across business functions to enable consistent scenario planning, faster insights, and strategic decision-making, supporting both Corp FP&A/VP FP&A/CFO but also business decision making (eg. weekly trading reporting, weekly forecast etc). Act as the main FP&A contact to enable automation of bridge creation among various scenarios.

The team must be hands-on, own and operate integrated processes that embed into and connect into the BU teams across Marketing, Fintech, Marketplace, Accommodations, and Trips. Connecting into the models and reporting systems owned by those BU-FP&A teams to synthesise and consolidate the commercial so-what and decisions that must be made. The team must be highly commercial and understand the business-drivers underpinning each vertical and 's revenue and contribution margin P&L lines.

• Develop Systems To Immediately Forecast Short Term Trends & Short Term P&L Impacts Invest in processes, systems, and models; in partnership with Data Science, Machine Learning, and the Anaplan/system teams to automate much of the calculations and processes needed to run CBO/CFO Level Cross-BU Decision Governance and Immediate Trading & Weekly Performance-Bridge, In Partnership With Corp. The above bullets are hands-on and expect offline-analysis and some manual processes at first. Therefore in this "Develop Systems" area, team members should plan to operationalise and systemetise these offline-processes (in Anaplan) so that the entire [1] Own & Deliver : CBO & Corp Trading Ops section become more efficient and always on / instant using systems rather than manual spreadsheets. The ambition is to have an always on (daily?) process that will immediately enable decisions in a highly productive and fast manner

Despite the above scoping, due to the continuous evolution of the organisation, the tasks and duties of the team and roles within it will evolve over time. Moreover, as a Lead Financial Analyst. You will be actively contributing to wider team-excellence, and likely asked to lead and contribute to transformation and innovation initiatives across the whole of FP&A.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Support with forecasting, variance analysis and reporting of financial performance;
• Contribute to robust, scalable and insightful reporting of the business unit or department's key metrics;
• Proactively deliver intelligence based on data to support and advise the FP&A team and/or business partners whenever necessary;
• Provide analytical support and contribute to strategic decision making;
• Continuously seek ways to improve and optimize the existing reporting to fit with evolving requests from senior management;
• Perform ad-hoc analysis, scenarios and benchmarking as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Business/Finance or other related field (preferred);
• 8+ years' experience in a similar role;
• Strong financial modeling and analytical skills;
• High attention to detail and ability to connect the dots and reconcile multiple data sources;
• Strong communication skills and ability to present to different audiences;
• Self-driven mentality, proactively seeking to find solutions to problems and providing the best analytics possible to key decision makers
• Advanced knowledge of Excel;
• Experience with SQL, data mining, Microsoft VBA and reporting tools;
• Ability to understand, work with and proactively advise business partners;
• Sees the headlines or big picture whilst having attention for the details;
• Strong team-working skills with ability to work independently;
• Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and working in an unstructured environment;
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and drive projects to completion.
