About the role
The purpose of the Head of Commercial Insight is to support decision making and investment across the regional teams and global functions, providing data and insight to optimise performance and ROI.
As a Head of Commercial Insight you will
Assortment and Brand Architecture
- Support CCO and Global Marketing teams in the layout of the brand architecture and opportunities, underpinned by the commercial data and merchandising principles in regions
- Maintain the master data regarding assortment decisions and implications of NPD, with regional VM and commercial teams
- Recommend assortment changes with incoming NPD, in collaboration with the Product Portfolio team and Global VM, to standardise format assortments and drive VM plate bulk purchasing
- Process and update/approval guidelines for how regions request changes to assortment, to ensure consistency and control over assortment decisions
- In close collaboration with Product Portfolio, help deliver the recommendations on discontinuations across the assortment
Category, Product and Service Analysis
- ·Surface insights to support Global Category teams for service proposition and VM principles – ie blending skincare/complexion services, effectiveness of service spaces in stores, drive improvement of space utilisation in FSS/DS – recommendations for category spaces in stores (ie skincare endcaps), usage of C1 spaces across specialty
- Set and review global category and franchise targets including regional splits and reporting
- Working alongside FP&A and Data Science, evolve the RTN1 reporting tools, including integrating NPD forecasts and actuals into Looker
- Deliver a high level category, product and regional summary prior to each RTN1 to provide a global performance snapshot, highlighting areas of concern and celebration
- Anticipate reporting needs in RTN1 and FBR with incoming campaigns, ie specific reporting on cannibalisation and halo in franchise or adjacent categories, to provide learnings and insights to drive action within regions
- Drive NPD campaign profitability reviews including pre-launch business case and after action review, including full cost to business and within region impact
Media and Marketing Spend Effectiveness
- In collaboration with the Data Science team and the regional marketing teams, overlay the MMM data and agency insights to help drive sharper investment decisions based on robust consumer targeting and ROI
- Revive marketing dashboard and evolve to drive investment decisions and consolidated regional spend vs guardrails
Global Commercial Playbook and Toolkit
- Working with the People team and Finance, maintain visibility on retail vacancies and correlation in door level performance across all regions
- Alongside Global Reward, collate global commission proposition against competitors in each region to support analysis on best practice and evolution of incentivisation in each market. With Finance, create a tracker to review the rate of commission payment in each market to flag potential engagement issues from non-achievement
- Create and implement the global promotional guardrails, including value integration, TOA utilisation and approval process
- Standardisation of net sales forecasting methodology and centralised reporting of inventory, including evolution of SISO meetings, outputs and toolkit to review retail to net conversion
- Support Supply Chain in the collation and review of all initiatives to clear excess inventory
Reporting and Performance Reviews
- Delivery of all commercial content for FBR, Board presentations and Commercial Updates for ExCo
- NPD campaign wrap up and profitability analysis
- Forecast review presentations and analysis
- Ad hoc reporting as required
