BeschrijvingContext Interim Project Manager Compliance Retail Regulations

The European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) aims to prevent the importation of products linked to deforestation and forest degradation, promoting sustainable sourcing practices. The regulation became law on June 29th 2023, and will come into force on December 29th, 2024. A

The Project Manager is part of a group wide project set up for all companies in the group to be compliant with these new regulations.

For products covered by the EUDR, we are required to complete a due diligence statement before importing and offering them on the market is permitted. The complexity lies in the wide array of products for which this must be done, as well as the potentially large volume of information we will need to gather and store from suppliers. To complete due diligence all relevant products need to be traceable on batch level and we need to ensure these products cannot be linked to deforestation. Our suppliers therefore need to provide relevant information on these products and we need to assess and mitigate the risk of deforestation.

You will work within the Contract- & Supplier management team,  directly supervised by the Head of this team (who is part of MT). Besides contracting and operational work, compliance and ESG tasks are part of this team. During the project we will expand the project team as deemed necessary for the project to complete successfully.

In scope: sales containing wood incl. paper, rubber, palm oil, cocoa & chocolate, coffee, cattle & beef, soy. This impacts mainly Books, Paper, Food, Leather products, Wood products in Garden & Home Interior.
Out of scope: sales containing other materials (e.g Metals, Plastics, and Cotton). Therefore, most products in Electronics, Toys, Fashion and FMCG

We are looking for someone with at least 5 years of relevant experience
Knowledge of EUDR is great but since its new we can imagine that that is hard to find so experience with implementing other regulations in a similar environment would be great
The person should be a senior projectmanager who can help us building new processes/team and system based on the legislation requirements
