Your contribution to TenneT

Energy System Planning is a future-oriented unit, optimized to react to fast-changing external conditions. We develop a vision for a climate-neutral energy system of the future and how our onshore/offshore electricity system can adapt to these challenges in the smartest way.


In this challenging role you will be responsible for grid planning aspects of the EHV grid (220/380kV, onshore grid/offshore & interconnectors) and system behaviour of the future, especially with respect to:

Power flow and contingency analyses in a more and more stressed system; Development of calculation methodologies and tooling; Intelligent grid planning concepts in the light of Sector coupling (e.g. Power-to-gas, power-to-heat, etc.); Development of grid planning standards and policies; Power system stability due to decreasing inertia and fault levels due to the phase out of conventional generation; Power electronics integration due to the increase in renewables;

You will contribute to network development plans and network expansion projects in the Dutch transmission system and you will participate on behalf of TenneT in national and international working groups and study programs. 


Your profile and background

A relevant university degree, preferably in Electrical Power Engineering, Applied Physics or Mathematics and you have become acquainted with the modelling of electrical networks, especially in the requested field of expertise; Able to manage uncertainties, you can develop frameworks to estimate them, test these frameworks in discussions with others and then make well-founded statements about future expectations; Skilled in handling computer models and have gained experience in using large amounts of data and tooling (e.g. PSS/E, PowerFactory, Matlab, Python); Proven knowledge of the transmission system and you have experience in conducting power system studies; Proven knowledge and experience in performing power flow and RMS-type calculations; Open style of communication, actively discuss with your colleagues and know how to convince others with arguments; You are proactive, show initiative and you're skilled in stakeholdermanagement; Excellent writing skills in both Dutch and English.
