TenneT is at the forefront of the energy transition, dedicated to ensuring a sustainable and reliable electricity supply. We are seeking a skilled Grid Strategist to join our dynamic team in Arnhem, contributing to our vision of a climate-neutral energy future.
Your Role
As a key member of the Energy System Planning unit, you will engage in innovative grid planning for the Extra High Voltage (EHV) network (220/380kV), addressing the complexities of modern energy systems. Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting power flow and contingency analyses in increasingly complex systems;
- Developing methodologies and tools for grid calculation;
- Creating intelligent grid planning concepts, particularly in relation to sector coupling (e.g., Power-to-gas, Power-to-heat);
- Establishing grid planning standards and policies;
- Assessing power system stability in light of reduced inertia and fault levels;
- Integrating power electronics to accommodate the rise of renewable energy sources.
You will also play a vital role in network development plans and expansion projects within the Dutch transmission system, representing TenneT in both national and international forums.
Your Qualifications
- A relevant university degree in Electrical Power Engineering, Applied Physics, or Mathematics, with experience in electrical network modeling;
- Ability to manage uncertainties and develop frameworks for estimation, engaging in discussions to refine these frameworks;
- Proficiency in utilizing computer models and handling large datasets (e.g., PSS/E, PowerFactory, Matlab, Python);
- In-depth knowledge of the transmission system and experience in conducting power system studies;
- Expertise in performing power flow and RMS-type calculations;
- Strong communication skills, capable of engaging colleagues and persuading stakeholders with well-founded arguments;
- Proactive approach with excellent stakeholder management skills;
- Fluency in both Dutch and English, with exceptional writing abilities.
What We Offer
This position is full-time, with a weekly commitment of 40 hours and an indefinite contract. The salary range for this role is competitive, reflecting your experience and skills, and is classified within grade 8 (€3879 - €7660) or grade 9 (€4369 - €8594) gross per month.
