We provide expertise in the field of Engineering,Project Management, Maintenance, Shutdowns, Construction andSafety.
The purpose of the Site EnvironmentalPerformance Officer‘s role is to implement the environmentalstandards and regulations, as defined by international, national,regional, permit, at the construction site.
• Support the ESG Manager in theperformance of his duties and daily report tohim.
• Support theimplementation of : all environmental mitigation measures requiredby Belgian law or by management the applicable environmentalstandards as set out by INEOS, the integrated permit requirementsand the regional, national, and international standards (includinglender standards such as IFC, Equator, OECD) into the dailyconstruction site operations.
•Support the improvement of an Environmental aspects of theEnvironmental and Social Management System, and document and reportenvironmental compliance.
•Support the ESG Manager in preparing, executing and evaluatingbi-annually lender reviews, external government inspections andaudits of the ESMS.
• Workclosely with the HSE managers and the HSE representatives of thecontractors of the individual PDTs and regularly participate inmeetings with them and regularly inspect environmental complianceon site.
• Liaise closely withthe Contractor personnel on all environmental matters, ensuringfield environmental issues are resolved in a proper and timelymanner.
• Work closely with theRecognised Soil Expert on environmental monitoring (air, noise,wastewater, …) and the management of excavated soil as well as onthe incoming materials e.g., granulates.
• Support and advise on improving emissionmonitoring and management.
•Support the implementation of the waste management plan and monitorperformance.
• Manageday-to-day environmental supervision on site, approve/ disapprovetools & work installations, intervention on inappropriateacts.
• Perform environmentalinspections/audits to verify the implementation of theenvironmental-related procedures and instructions and compliancewith applicable regulations.
•Conduct investigations and prepare reports on any hazmat spillincidents for submission to local authorities.
• Support emergency response concerningspills.
• Participate in theinvestigation of environmental incidents and internal and/orexternal complaints.
•Regularly report on the activities at the construction site with(potential) environmental impact, including the identification ofany missing elements and the proposed solutions to improve thesituation.
• Weekly and Monthlyreports to the ESG Manager and Lead Environmental Engineerregarding environmental activity highlights.
• Support the enforcement of site rules andregulations.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree inenvironmental studies or similar.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of relevantEnvironmental guidelines & regional environmental Belgian andEuropean law with a focus on key discipline areas such as soilmanagement, noise & air emissions as well as hazardous andnon-hazardous materials and waste handling.
• Sound knowledge of Environmental ManagementSystems, like ISO 14001.
• Min.10 years’ experience in construction projects; experience inchemical, oil, and gas or petrochemical setting is abonus.
• EnvironmentalCoordinator type B as per Flemish Legislation is anadvantage.
• Willing to workdaily on a construction site in the harbor ofAntwerp.
• Team player withstrong interpersonal, communication, and influencingskills.
• Pragmatic hands-onproblem solving attitude.
•Flexible self-starter with the ability toprioritize.
• Analytical andproblem-solving skills.
•Strong planning and organizing ability.
• Highly motivated, achievementoriented.
• Ability tointerface effectively with people of all levels, both internal andthird parties, and with wide-ranging culturalbackgrounds.
• Able to defineand prioritize issues and then solve the problems throughnetworking with other team members or externalsources.
• Fluent verbal andwritten Dutch & English communicationskills.
