Malmberg and VAN IN form part of Sanoma Learning. Educational publisher Malmberg develops learning methods for primary, secondary and vocational education and offers these methods via books and digital learning platforms. Malmberg also offers service and support to teachers to work optimally with the learning methods. VAN IN is a leader in the educational market (both folio and digital), and plays an important role in helping to achieve 'the education of tomorrow', when differentiated education is becoming increasingly important. That is why we continue to invest in quality content and in digital learning platforms that enable personalised learning.

About the project

As a Manager of Regional Technology Center BeNe (RTC BeNe), you will manage a team supporting local business. In this role you are responsible for the development, maintenance and operational activities of local Digital Products which business is currently running in BeNe Region. Next to this, you will support the integration of the functionality of these local applications into Sanoma Learning's common solutions according to the defined strategy.

In this function, you will report to the Sanoma Learning Head of Regional Technology Center and collaborate closely with operating companies Malmberg in Netherlands and Van In in Belgium, as well as Sanoma Learning Technology (LT) teams and Sanoma Group IT (Business Technology - BT).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders in Malmberg in the Netherlands and Van In in Belgium to identify ways technology can assist the companies in achieving business and financial goals.
  • Manage, build and develop a team of technology specialists in the region.
  • Ensure the RTC BeNe department runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Accountable for operational management and continuity/availability of local Digital Products that are part of the BeNe Region ecosystem in close collaboration with the RTC Technical Support Team, Sanoma Learning teams and 3rd parties.
  • Ensure Service Level Agreements (SLA) with external partners are met: implement service improvements, ensure performance reporting, perform periodical SLA reviews.
  • Vendor management: set up and align contractual agreements with vendors.
  • Collaborate with Regional business and Product Management Team to prepare the roadmap for local Digital Products.
  • Strategic Planning:  Set plans and goals for local Digital Products, constantly communicate and build consensus with business and Tech stakeholders to meet the established outcomes.
  • Work with the technical architects and engineers to define technical solutions and enablers in line with requirements, process flows and defined LT strategy.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Product Owners, engineers, designers, developers and other tech teams to ensure the working product is available to users.
  • Report progress and status in terms of business and customer outcomes to make work visible.
  • Champion change: promote and drive change, standardization and new ways of working.
  • Ensure availability of up-to-date documentation for all applications/systems in scope.
  • Coordination of security & privacy activities including handling and follow up of audits.
  • Financials: monitor, prepare, report and control budgets.
  • Participate in business/integration projects to ensure operational requirements are taken into account and any migration activities are executed in a controlled manner.
  • Act as the "eyes and ears" of LT and BT in terms of proactively highlighting business challenges with potential technology impact.
  • Feedback on important items to LT & BT organizations.
  • Understand technology and new trends to advise business in those areas.
  • Develop a deep understanding of business goals to enable regional objectives with the proper tech solutions

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in digital/technical products/projects
  • Experience in managing IT / Technology projects and teams.
  • Broad knowledge of business processes and technology/solutions supporting them.
  • Experienced in coordinating external partners and suppliers including Service Level Agreement management.
  • Understanding and working experience with Agile approach and culture; Understanding the SAFe (Agile at scale) approach is a plus.
  • Knowledge of IT Service management e.g. ITIL and preferably experience with DevOps
  • Experience with security & privacy compliance management
  • Experienced working in an international environment. Ability to work with multiple geographies in a multicultural environment.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree/education related to the role
