The team and the role

You will be part of our Finance Team, which is responsible for various activities such as bookkeeping & accounting, financial planning & analysis and fundraising & investor relations. Together, they play a critical role in helping our company achieve its goals by managing its (financial) resources effectively to continue growing the business.


During this internship you will work together with the team to ensure that the blackbear organisation runs as smoothly as possible. You will learn all about Finance in a start-up environment and will support the team in day-to-day operations as well as complex tasks, such as debtor management, handling requests, and supporting in the preparation of documentation and reports.


You will work alongside our Financial Controller Tom and our Financial Specialist Alan, who will teach you the tricks of the trade.

What you will learn

Your internship is flexible; we believe it's important to focus on what you want to develop, so you'll align personal learning goals with your own blackbear mentor.


During your internship, you will learn and further develop the following skills:

  • Managing accounts payable & receivable operations

  • Handling incoming Finance requests and emails.

  • Becoming proficient in bookkeeping and other administrative tasks.

  • Supporting in the preparation of VAT documentation on a monthly and quarterly basis.

  • Learning how to prepare and analyse various management reports (cash flows, liquidity forecasts, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets).

  • Working on diverse financial projects (e.g. rebuilding infrastructures, automating & optimising existing processes, cost reduction analyses, etc.)

  • Supporting the People Team with payroll activities.

In addition to embodying the blackbear mentality, we expect the following to strengthen our team:

  • You are available from September 2024 onwards for 6 months for at least 4 days per week.

  • You are currently enrolled in or graduating from a Business- or Finance related study, at least at hbo-level.

  • You are passionate about Finance and data.

  • You have a high level of independence and proactivity.

  • You are diligent, have an excellent eye for detail, and can handle confidential information.

  • You have an analytical mind and love solving problems.

  • You are proficient in Excel or Google Sheets.

  • You are eager to learn and are looking to develop yourself personally and professionally.

  • Any previous experience in Finance is a plus.

  • Experience with Exact Online or HubSpot is a plus.

  • You are fluent in Dutch and have a working proficiency in English.

  • During the internship, you will be living in the Netherlands, within commuting distance to our office.
