After a system (EUV or DUV machine) is shipped to a customer abroad, the real ‘magic’ begins. Thousands of our engineers worldwide are dedicated to this one goal: making sure that the lithography systems at our customers’ sites are running smoothly, 24/7. That makes the Customer Support (CS) department vital to our success.
With headquarters in Veldhoven, CS operatesworld-wide. Our headquarters and seven Customer Support regions consist of more than 9,300 people who work at over 500 sites. These sites are located strategically close to our customers and include offices, warehouses, training facilities, and customer fabs. Together, our team maintains more than 5,000 customer systems around the world, with this number expected to grow to nearly 10,000 by the end of 2025.
Within CS, our department CS Infrastructure, Architecture and Security focuses amongst others on cascading the service strategies into tangible capability step-ups and defining the business architecture of the ASML service system. The ultimate goalsis to ensure the life of our Field Service Engineers gets better and that CS as a whole is ready for the future.
Being a Business Architect, you work closely with your CS colleagues residing in the seven CS regions and in headquarters. In addition you will work cross sector with our other departments like Development & Engineering (D&E), Information Technology (IT), Business Performance Improvement (BPI) and Manufacturing & Logistics (M&L). You will need to develop knowledge of how to service high-tech machines in a unique and highly demanding environment where safety, performance, availability, and cost efficiency are the driving forces. Moreover, since service is a labor intensive activity, determining organizational impact and gauging human aspects are key components as well.
Role and responsibilities
TheBusiness Architect is responsible for translating business objectives and requirements into architecture capability designs which is comprised of business processes, applications, data and organizational structures.The architect translates and aligns business goals, plans and processes with other architects and IT counterparts among others.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their goals, challenges, and opportunities
Work as linking pin between business and IT solutioning
Ensure that the proposed solution architecture is aligned with organizational goals, technically feasible and adds business value
Analyze and model current business processes, identifying areas for improvement and optimization
Provide guidance and insights on how technology can support and enhance business processes
Support project teams by aligning their work with the overall business architecture
Understand the as-is process in the Field on high and detailed level (where most of the complexity resides)
Define the to-be process based on the as-is baseline and your architectural expertise to improve the operational service planning, scheduling and execution.
Build up an organizational network on senior management (decision makers) and shopfloor representatives (who do the work in the Field)
Drive and define the Field sector roadmap and transition architecture
Education and experience
As our new BusinessArchitect within Customer Support, you have the following experiences and skills:
Master or PhD level in Industrial Engineering or Service Management. Strong affinity with Business Economics;
At least 7+ years of experience in a Service Engineering / Hi-tech System Engineering environment or similar and a proven track record in architecture, service, or engineering leadership;
You are pragmatic and can move between detailed technical solutions and high level capability step-ups
You are focused on fixing issues in a structural and sustainable manner
Experience within Project management, IT infrastructure, Information Technology and/or Supplier and Service management would gain an advantage;
You are fluent in English (spoken and written);
Experienced with Stakeholder Management;
Being TOGAF and/or Archimate certified is a plus.
