Role and key responsibilities
The primary purpose of this role is to partner with the Benelux region Leadership Team to drive the strategic financial objectives of the business while also collaborating across the support functions in a matrix structure with a direct reporting line into the UK based Finance Leadership Team.
In a broad and varied role, you will collaborate across teams to drive best practice approach and outcomes in the following areas:
Commercial business partnering to the Leadership Team and Partner group to drive financial performance and profitability, with particular emphasis on firm wide KPIs including activity levels, leverage, client profitability & rate performance and working capital managementMonthly performance reviews and delivery of key insights to senior business and Finance stakeholdersContinuous improvement and evolution of insights to meet the needs of a fast paced and demanding Leadership team including advance visibility of risks & opportunitiesBudgeting, forecasting and ongoing development of rolling three year financial plans and the strategic actions to deliver on profit improvement targetsLeading a substantial Finance team across the key disciplines of Financial Control & Compliance, Performance Reporting, Working Capital and BillingWorking in consultation with external advisors and the Group Tax team to ensure compliance with all aspects of regulatory reporting and tax requirements including Partnership tax filings and VAT compliance & accountingOversight of the financial control function and delivery of initiatives in consultation with Group Financial Control to strengthen the control environment and ensure compliance with local requirementsCollaborating across the local support functions (HR, Facilities, Marketing & BD) to ensure cross functional alignment on key prioritiesAdhoc special projects for example restructure planning, business cases, commercial contract and benefit reviewsDriving adherence to Financial Protocols and performance across key financial hygiene metrics including monthly billing & cash targets, aged WIP & debt management, lock up and matter managementCash flow & treasury management and acting as key point of contact with local Banks Driving the quarterly assessment of carrying values of WIP and debt including expectation management across both business and Finance stakeholdersSharing of knowledge and contributing to the ongoing education of business stakeholders in the area of law firm economics and key performance leversContributing to the ongoing development of Finance colleagues, team engagement and role modelling of firm wide values.Skills and experience
Skills & Experience required:
You will be degree qualified, hold a professional accountancy qualification and ideally have prior experience in a professional services firm.
To be successful in this role you must be able to demonstrate:
Drive, resilience, energy, enthusiasm and commitmentExtensive experience operating atand influencing senior management levels, with strong communication and commercial skillsInitiative and resourcefulness, demonstrated by a willingness to collaborate across teams and solve complex problemsStrong leadership qualities and the ability to influence and win trust at all levelsExperience of Benelux region GAAP and IFRS desirablePrior legal sector experience desirable though not essential.

We're looking for someone who can deliver the day to day requirements and also drive strategic change. You will have the drive and energy to challenge current performance and thinking toward the achievement of both short and long term profitability goals.
This is a highly visible and senior role within the business with a seat on the Leadership Team. You will be the face of Finance to the business and regularly represent Finance to the Partnership group.
We're looking for someone with excellent time management and leadership skills and the ability to balance conflicting priorities.
You will display a positive attitude and a 'can do' approach, with the ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a wider Finance team.
