This is what you do as PhD Candidate
In this role, the doctoral candidate will apply advanced proteomics techniques to analyze the traces and investigate the temporal color changes that occur due to interactions with the nanoparticles. The candidate will also be responsible for identifying correlations between the color reactions and protein profiles within the traces and evaluating the influence of environmental factors on these processes.
As part of the DaVinciQD 2.0 project, funded by RAAK-PRO which is conducted in collaboration with Saxion Hogeschool, Police Academy and the Netherlands Forensic Institute. The candidate will engage in research focusing on the analysis of biological traces (fingerprints and blood stains), using proteomics. The research will focus on exploiting these differences between fresh and older traces, that can be made visible using functionalized fluorescent nanoparticles. Results of this research will be exploited to develop a new tool for the forensic researcher on the crime scene, in order to determine the age of biological traces on-site.

The following salary scale: scale 11: min € 4,234 / max € 5,936 (cao-hbo) working on a full-time basis. 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% year-end bonus. Completed Master's in analytical chemistry, bio-analysis, bioinformatics, or a closely related field. Experience with mass spectrometry, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), and fluorescence spectroscopy is a plus. Able to work independently while also making a valuable contribution to a multidisciplinary team. Enrollment at the University of Twente as part of the doctoral trajectory is required. Good communication skills in English, speaking Dutch (or willing to learn) is a plus.How to apply
