JOB SUMMARY:

As a full-time Systems Administrator at Omicron, you will work both collaboratively and independently, managing Linux-based servers and supporting a diverse range of services.

You will be responsible for troubleshooting software and hardware issues, as well as participating in an on-call rotation to address any after-hours incidents.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design, install, and maintain services on various Linux distributions, primarily Centos and Ubuntu.
  • Handle service problems reported through our alerting platforms and Operations Center, prioritizing and escalating as needed.
  • Create documentation for new and existing services, and develop operational procedures to share with team members.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Demonstrated expertise in System/Network security and best practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex Linux system issues, conduct diagnostics and analysis.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals and standard protocols.
  • Experience with Shell scripting/programming and resolving technical issues.
  • Capacity to think innovatively, communicate effectively, and automate operational processes.
  • Management of multi-vendor Linux server system installations.
REQUIRED PERSONAL SKILLS:
  • Bilingual proficiency in Dutch and English.
  • Strong sense of personal accountability.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and self-improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, make decisions, and tackle problems under pressure.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
  • Familiarity with virtualization/container technologies like Docker and KVM.
  • Knowledge of Perl, Python, and/or PHP programming related to Internet applications, network management, and systems administration.
  • Experience in writing technical documents and procedures for technical groups.
  • Working knowledge of storage systems configuration, systems logging, and exception diagnosis.
  • Understanding of Elasticsearch, Prometheus, and Victoria Metrics would be advantageous.
