As an Application Engineer in the Customer Support Applications and Business Support (ABS) department you will join and become an expert in 1 of the 6 competency teams. Your main goal is to have satisfied customers through proactively providing customized application solutions and creating tomorrow's value with ASML products and services that enable our partners' technology and manufacturing roadmaps. As third line support for our customers and their local teams you will be based in ASML HQ in the Netherlands and from there you support our colleagues worldwide, in countries such as USA, South Korea and Taiwan.

Role and responsibilities

Within Customer Support the ABS department supports the effective use of our machines in the customer's production process. You are part of a global applications community serving all Business Lines: EUV, DUV and Applications. This involves:

Cross functional work through close collaborations with development and engineering (D&E) teams; Representing the voice of the customer through communicating their needs and requirements to develop our business lines; Running performance improvement projects in cooperation with customers and translating the results into improvement specifications for our development department; Sustaining gathered knowledge through proper knowledge documentation and its maintenance; Visiting customers internationally (up to 30%) to optimally fit systems into the customer's production process and provide tailor-made technical support; Providing training to our customers and the local organizations so that our on-site engineers can provide ongoing customer support; Determining solutions to customer-related lithography needs together with input from other internal departments. This does not include standard hardware/software support, but rather focuses on how to extract the best results from our machines, finding innovative technical alternatives where established practices don't work.

Education and experience

To handle the technical challenges and opportunities you face as an Application Engineer, you need:

A Master's Degree or PhD in a technical field. For example: Mechanics, Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or a similar engineer degree.

The following experiences are also valuable:

Experience in an integrated circuit manufacturing environment with a strong emphasis on lithography and imaging; Experience in a (technical) customer focused position.

Drive and determination to bring projects to successful conclusions; Strong capability in stakeholder management; Adaptable in a highly dynamic environment; Cultural awareness demonstrated through communication skills; Ability to organize and influence without power; Strong customer focus; Excellent English language skills (verbal and written); Ability to explain complex technical subjects to different stakeholders.
