Intern Molecular Virology – Bachelor/Master – Discovery & Technology

Welcome to our team

The D&T department is an essential hub in our organization. This department is focused on the early-stage research of vaccine technologies. The team consists of about 40 employees, all of whom have extensive knowledge and experience in different vaccine technology fields like microbiology, vaccine formulation, immunology, vaccine analysis, cell biology and virology. The team works closely with other departments within the company to achieve the stated goals.

Your internship assignment

As an intern, you will be responsible for a project aimed on the development of influenza vaccines. You will work on creating and screening cell lines for better growth of different influenza strains. Creating new cell lines will be done through lentivirus transductions. You will work on the screening of the created cell lines to assess improved growth of influenza strains. The techniques that will be involved in this project are cell culture, transductions, transfections, infections and virus titrations to quantify the virus yields of the different influenza strains in the new cell line.

The described tasks form the basic package and will often be performed independently after a proper training and learning period. These tasks may be supplemented with other projects and/or tasks on your own initiative or at the request of the organization.

What is required


• A final year B.Sc or M.Sc student in the field of Life Sciences


• Preferably, you are familiar with vaccines and viruses


• You are fluent in English and/or Dutch, both written and verbal


• You are available for a period of 6-9 months for 5 days a week
