Familiarity with key concepts in target trial emulation and a strong foundation in modern causal inference methods are crucial for this role. Responsibilities include contributing to causal inference methodology in study designs, writing/reviewing statistical analysis plans, and developing/launching analysis scripts. Experience in statistical programming and an affinity with clinical research is expected. Teaching, research, and development of methodological and statistical tools are also part of the role.
The Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care is one of the 10 divisions within the UMC Utrecht. It aims to lead in acquiring and disseminating knowledge in Health Sciences and Primary Care. The Data Science and Biostatistics department focuses on Health Data Science, Clinical Trial Methodology, and Real-World Evidence (RWE). It features a large data management and education team, comprising about 23 statisticians, 6 senior epidemiologists, and around 8 PhD students. The RWE group operates in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-cultural environment, collaborating closely with research networks and international experts.
The ideal candidate is an experienced statistician with initiative and a broad interest in medical statistics and epidemiology. Preferably, you possess a PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, (Pharmaco)Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field, with a strong focus on methodology and statistics. Experience in statistical programming, consultation, teaching, and working in multi-disciplinary teams is desired. Proficiency in R, git, and GitHub, and the ability to communicate statistical ideas to non-specialists are essential. Experience with real-world data and large, diverse team environments is advantageous. Written and spoken fluency in English is required.
- Salary: Depending on experience, scale 11 (€ 4678 to € 6402) or scale 12 (€ 5677 to € 7232) gross per month, based on full-time employment (36 hours).
- Position: Fulltime (1.0 fte) as Assistant Professor A or B (based on experience).
- Contract: Temporary for one year with the possibility of extension upon good evaluation.
- Bonuses: Year-end bonus of 8.3% and holiday allowance of 8%.
