JOB DESCRIPTION: Head of Data Protection and Application Security

As Head of Data Protection and Application Security. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of information security in relation to data protection and the application (development) lifecycle. In your role you will manage a team of Information Security professionals and working closely with product and application owners/teams to ensure applications are built and maintained to company security standards and have a robust and secure design and development. You will develop the Data Protection and Application Security program to further scale and mature the program.

Key Accountabilities

  • Member of the Information Security Leadership Team
  • Manage team responsible for;
    • Security administration for Identity and Access Management including new user setups, user change requests, and password resets
    • Secure SDLC implementation, monitoring, scanning, remediation, and controls
    • Vulnerability Management including penetration testing
    • Data Protection activities, including delivering on Data Loss Prevention (DLP) program objectives and implementing DLP controls
    • Cloud Security
    • Cyber Monitoring and Incident Response
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and business to understand business needs for information security
  • Outline best practices and establish standards for data protection strategy, data lifecycle, data ownership, data definition, and data classification
  • Develop metrics for measuring effectiveness of the Application Security and Data Protection programs and provide project updates to leadership
  • Analyse existing procedures and recommend improvements to increase efficiency in developing new processes
  • Coordinate requests as appropriate with clients, vendors, other operations groups, and technical support

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE

  • BA/BS Degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Security, Engineering, Information Technology and Finance, Business or equivalent related experience
  • 10 years of information security field experience, including five years in a senior management role
  • Through understanding of critical infrastructure protection, information risk management, cloud security strategy, data privacy leadership, information security architecture, NIST/ISO cybersecurity frameworks, threat intelligence, security policy and standards, enterprise risk management, incident response, vulnerability management strategies, and regulatory compliance management
  • Experienced with SAFe as a project management framework
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Cleary communicate priorities and escalation points/procedures to other team members
  • Detail oriented, organized, methodical, follow up skills with an analytical thought process
  • Excellent communication skills, especially related to facilitation, documentation and reporting
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Prior experience with Project Management a plus
  • Excellent team skills, both as a leader and as a team player

Expected educational background for this position would include:

  • Required industry certification in Information Security such as: EMITA, CISSP, CISM,
