**Job Brief**:
You support and advice the organisation on data protection laws and regulations applicable to the organisation and monitor compliance to the GDPR, to ensure legitimate processing of personal data within the organisation.

**Data Protection Advisor**
- (Netherlands based is _required_. _T_he required working hours are between 24-32 hours/week_)_

The Data Protection Advisor (DPA) is part of the Control Unit and reports directly to Controller. The Control Unit is a staff department that reports to the General Director and the Board of the association. The Controller is responsible to ensure the availability of quality data for decision making on steering and management control and for internal and external accountability and to supply expertise to the board and management on issues of governance and compliance to the principles of good governance codes, rules and regulations. The Control unit comprises of the Control, the Internal Audit, Risk Management and Compliance, Information Security and Data Protection and the Legal Counsel functions.

**Purpose of the job**
- You support and advice the organisation on data protection laws and regulations applicable to the organisation and monitor compliance to the GDPR, to ensure legitimate processing of personal data within the organisation. You provide independent advice in your domain.**Main responsibilities**
- You facilitate and enable the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the organization. You ensure the availability of data protection documentation and procedures.
- You monitor activities affected by data protection policies and procedures, you oversee audits and tests to detect risks and you assist in translating findings in improvements to the way of working.
- You advise senior leadership on the organisation’s level of data protection and ways to improve, and you find ways to raise the data protection awareness for all staff.
- You work closely with the Information Security Officer, the ICT department, other OCs and MSF sections and external parties to maintain and improve MSF’s data protection.
- You work closely together and in tandem with the (external) Data Protection Officer.

**Specific tasks**
- Maintaining and updating the Data Processing Register
- Policies and procedures regarding GDPR compliance
- Reviewing Data Processing Agreements
- Proposed actions, based on insights in compliance with internal control framework
- Support and advice the organization on data protection and policy choices
- Supervising Data Protection Impact Assessments and building best practices regarding privacy protection
- Training staff to enhance data protection knowledge and awareness
- Advice to management on compliance with legal requirements regarding the processing of personal data
- Collaboration and consultation with peers in other MSF-sections on approaches to sharing of data and data protection issues
- Reports to data protection authorities

- A master's degree in law.
- You have at least 3 years working experience advising on privacy and data protection laws and risks and you are comfortable providing privacy advice to senior level stakeholders.
- You have up to date knowledge of privacy and data protection, compliance, or risk management at higher vocational level.
