Avantium business unit R&D Solutions (RDS), is seeking a talented individual to join our business development team.
Avantium is a pioneer in the emerging industry of renewable and sustainable chemistry. We seek to take part in the opportunities of the transition towards a circular economy to create value for our stakeholders and society as a whole. Avantium's mission is to aid the transition to a fossil-free world by developing ground-breaking products based on renewable feedstock instead of fossil resources. Sustainable alternatives for fossil-based chemicals and materials include plastic bottles for drinks, films for food packaging and electronics, fibres for têxtiles and even material used in toys.
Avantium aims to be a world leader in renewable and sustainable chemistry and technology solutions and to commercialise them through partnerships and licensing. The company is best known for its PEF (polyethylene furanoate) - a fully plant-based, sustainable plastic material - that can be used in packaging, têxtiles, film, and everyday items that match today's world. It is an exciting time to join Avantium, as we are on the brink of scaling up to a first-of-a-kind commercial plant to produce PEF, unlocking the high potential of this novel, highly innovative plastic material PEF.
**About Avantium RDS**:
Avantium RDS excels in accelerating R&D in chemistry through advanced R&D equipment and research services. Our work supports industries transitioning towards sustainable practices, with a growing footprint in green hydrogen and other sustainable chemistry markets.
**What will you do?**
As a Business Development Manager, you will spearhead our efforts in identifying and securing business opportunities specifically in custom-made test units for green hydrogen technologies including PEM, Alkaline, AEM, AEL, and Solid Oxide with main focus on PEM. Based on your profound industry experience, you will translate Avantium's innovative technologies into market opportunities, crafting bespoke solutions for our international clientele.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop strategic account plans to ensure sustainable, profitable growth.
- Generate and manage leads and negotiate to successful conclusion.
- Forge and maintain high-level relationships within the industry, influencing key stakeholders to maximize sales opportunities.
- Conduct market analyses and negotiate contracts, focusing on our offerings in electrolysis and related technologies.
- Report directly to the Director of Strategic Developments.
**What do you bring?**
This role is perfect for you if you have the following knowledge and skills:
- Advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Chemical Engineering or similar industry experience.
- Proven experience in a client-facing role within the chemical/renewables industry.
- Experience in sales of custom-made (lab) equipment.
- Strong commercial acumen and consultative selling skills.
- Excellent networking, presentation, and influencing abilities.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
