The Composition Department of the Royal Conservatoire’s is looking for a

**Coordinator (0.7-0.8 FTE)**

**What are you going to do?**

In your role as the coordinator of the Composition Department you are an important link between the head of the department, the teachers and students of the department. You are also in good contact with coordinators and colleagues from other departments of the conservatoire. As part of this position, you:

- coordinate, support and facilitate the planning, organisation and implementation of educational programmes,, open days, exams, and admissions;
- are a project leader, who is responsible for the production of projects, concerts, events and other presentation-related activities.
- provide substantial contributions and evaluations for the benefit of an optimal organisation, set-up, design and implementation of the Composition Departments education programme;
- support the department in the implementation of work processes and daily affairs, identifying changing circumstances and proposing solutions for potential bottlenecks;
- take responsibility for communication and information provision about parts of the education and activities of the department;
- take responsibility for the administrative processes and planning of the Composition Departments education, using the available systems, keeping an overview and monitoring the study progress of students;
- take care of reporting at meetings and panels of the department;
- are the point of contact for teachers, students and other departments for various organisational and practical matters;
- maintain internal and external mailing lists.

**Your profile**
- You have completed a higher vocational education in the field of music (composition or a specialisation in contemporary music is preferred) or another art, culture or related education;
- You have organisational talent and excellent communication, administrative and digital skills;
- You work independently and with integrity, take initiative and dare to make choices. You are also a friendly interlocutor who works with integrity and, where necessary, give signals to the head of department or other important stakeholders in a timely manner;
- You have excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written;
- You have experience working in an education department within higher professional education;
- You have experience in a comparable coordinating position, where you are used to working as the spider-in-the-web of a department. You are also good in organising work on a project basis; You know how to set the right priorities, you can connect well on different levels and you have perseverance;
- You have a demonstrable affinity with music and contemporary music in particular;
- You have a vision on music and/or art education and on composition education in particular.

**What do we offer?**

A versatile function in a small team with room for your own input and opportunities to continue to develop yourself. The position is valued within scale 10 of the collective agreement for higher professional education, with a maximum of €5.170,32 gross per month for a full working week. The amount of your salary depends on your education and work experience.

This is a structural position, starting with an annual contract. The collective agreement for higher professional education has a generous leave scheme, 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus. You can also participate in health insurance and/or disability insurance under favourable conditions.

**Our organisation**

The Royal Conservatoire (KC) and the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) together form the University of the Arts The Hague. The University offers a wide range of art courses to approximately 1800 students. In addition, we provide preliminary training for young students in combination with primary and secondary education. The Academy of the Arts was established in collaboration with Leiden University, where minor programmes, master's programmes and doctoral programmes are given. The University of the Arts is located at two locations in the centre of The Hague.

Studying at the Royal Conservatoire means studying at the oldest conservatoire in the Netherlands, where experimentation and innovation go hand in hand with tradition and craftsmanship. It is an inspiring learning environment where international top musicians and top dancers teach. Our teaching and research is about creating, recreating and presenting.
