**What to Expect**
This role is responsible for owning business development and strategy for the EMEA market: driving partnership relationships related to the Tesla ecosystem and Tesla Electric / European VPP strategy; developing new commercial offers across the residential and small commercial market; owning market entry decisions; investigating and reporting on market fundamentals and trends; and synthesizing tough business problems into executive-level decision points.
**What You'll Do**
Retail / VPP Strategy & Business Development:
- Lead Tesla Electric’s market prioritization in Europe and develop business cases, proposed offer structures, and own competitive intel to support launch of retail offers in new markets. Collaborate closely with HQ and local optimization and engineering teams to drive overall strategy.
- Own relationships with third-party European retail electricity providers to generate partnerships that maximize value for Tesla Energy and Vehicle customers.
- Investigate opportunities for other bilateral and non-market service VPP value creation (e.g. DR programs, DSO/TSO contracts, etc.), and lead creation of new programs where applicable. Ensure success of product marketing and go-to-market of new programs where created.
- Inform roadmap for load control / interoperability / HEMS strategy for local European markets. Identify needed partners to remain competitive, engage with and own relationships with these ecosystem partners on any commercial arrangements.
New Market Strategy & BD:
- Drive early BD efforts to support new market entry - assessing landscape and engaging with potential partners and customers.
- Policy Strategy: Advise internal stakeholders on the intersection of policy and Tesla’s business and product strategy (e.g. interoperability standards, grid code compliance unification, and VPPs). Help to set business policy priorities across EMEA.
- Competitive Intelligence: Own local competitive intelligence (products, specs, pricing, offerings, etc.) and synthesize insights to advance commercial and product strategy.
Program / Team Management:
- Drive cross-functional efforts across HQ and EMEA leadership / executive teams where needed to support critical business decisions / programs.
- Lead small team of FTE and interns across the above initiatives.
**What You'll Bring**
- 7+ years of electricity industry experience with a broad understanding of how the European solar and storage industry works
- Commercial and contracting expertise
- Ability to project manage large initiatives with many stakeholders, driving the group to decisions and demonstrating results
- Ability to define and structure broad asks into logical frameworks for analysis and executive decision-making
- Very strong written and verbal communication skills appropriate for representing Tesla internally and externally at an executive level
- Very strong analytical skills, including basic financial modeling
- High proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- English fluency
Preferred:
- 10+ years electricity industry experience
- Experience with energy storage technology and value propositions across residential and/or C&I verticals
- Experience with new market entry strategy
- Experience with retail market operations
- Advanced financial and/or energy storage modeling abilities
- Fluency in another European language
