Position Overview

We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to enhance our dynamic Materials & Processes team. This role is ideal for individuals with a solid laboratory or academic background who are eager to explore new career avenues. While prior experience in the aerospace sector is not mandatory, candidates with expertise in thermal processing for composites will be particularly valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the application of Materials and Process methodologies from initial concept to production.
  • Utilize the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite to ensure high process capability.
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing development and production integration.
  • Address vendor quality issues effectively.
  • Contribute specialized knowledge to enhance production efficiency and product quality while minimizing non-conforming parts.
  • Oversee production monitoring through testing and auditing to ensure robust process selection and control.
  • Assist in establishing a reliable manufacturing process that meets all operational requirements.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • A minimum of HNC (or ONC with relevant workplace experience) in a pertinent engineering or science discipline.
  • A strong grasp of materials and processing, ideally with experience in thermal processing of composites.
  • Experience in continuous improvement and lean management methodologies.
  • Proactive approach to developing necessary expertise.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and deliver results.
  • Capability to manage and coordinate internal and external customer requirements.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and committed to excellence.
  • Flexibility to thrive in a complex environment.
  • Professional interfacing skills with customers and suppliers.
