Position Overview

We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to enhance our dynamic Materials & Processes team. This role is pivotal in our East Cowes facility, where we value diverse backgrounds and experiences. While prior aerospace experience is beneficial, we welcome candidates with strong laboratory or academic foundations, including recent graduates with relevant work exposure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the application of Materials and Process methodologies from initial concept to production.
  • Utilize the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite to ensure high process capability.
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing development and production integration.
  • Address vendor quality issues effectively.
  • Contribute specialized knowledge to enhance production efficiency and product quality, minimizing non-conforming parts.
  • Oversee production monitoring through testing and auditing to ensure robust process selection and control.
  • Assist in delivering a reliable manufacturing process that meets all specified requirements.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • A minimum of HNC (or ONC with relevant experience) in a pertinent engineering or science discipline.
  • A solid understanding of materials and processing, particularly in thermal processing of composites.
  • Experience in continuous improvement and lean management practices.
  • Proactive engagement in developing necessary expertise.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective teamwork capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and deliver results.
  • Competence in managing internal and external customer requirements.
  • Ability to achieve delivery within time, cost, and quality parameters.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Self-motivation, resourcefulness, and a strong commitment to tasks.
  • Flexibility to thrive in a complex environment.
  • Professional interaction skills with customers and suppliers.
