We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced researcher to join our team as a Professional Doctorate Candidate in the maritime field. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to conduct practice-oriented research that contributes to the sustainability, safety, and competitiveness of the maritime sector.

About the Role

The Professional Doctorate Candidate will be responsible for conducting research in the area of novel repair methods in the maritime field. The candidate will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to develop and implement new methodologies for repairing and restoring maritime assets. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects, including the development of new materials and technologies for maritime applications.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct practice-oriented research in the area of novel repair methods in the maritime field
  • Develop and implement new methodologies for repairing and restoring maritime assets
  • Work closely with our multidisciplinary team to develop and implement new materials and technologies for maritime applications
  • Contribute to the development of new research projects and initiatives in the maritime field
Requirements
  • Completed university of applied sciences or university master's degree in the maritime field or a relevant field
  • Up-to-date knowledge of maritime practice and experience in maintenance and repair
  • Affinity with the solid mechanics and materials engineering background
  • Prior experience in mechanical testing and/or materials characterization is highly desirable
  • Demonstrable good command of the Dutch and English language (at least level C1)
What We Offer
  • A gross monthly salary between € 3.896,- and € 5.936,- (VSNU profile Researcher 3 scale 11), based on a full-time appointment and depending on education and experience
  • An end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and holiday allowance of 8% of your gross annual salary
  • 10.7 holiday weeks per year with a 40-hour working week
