We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced researcher to join our team as a Professional Doctorate Candidate in the maritime field. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to conduct practice-oriented research that contributes to the sustainability, safety, and competitiveness of the maritime sector.
About the RoleThe Professional Doctorate Candidate will be responsible for conducting research in the area of novel repair methods in the maritime field. The candidate will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to develop and implement new methodologies for repairing and restoring maritime assets.
Responsibilities- Conduct practice-oriented research in the area of novel repair methods in the maritime field
- Develop and implement new methodologies for repairing and restoring maritime assets
- Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to achieve research goals
- Present research findings and results to the team and stakeholders
To be successful in this role, the candidate will need to have:
- A completed university of applied sciences or university master's degree in the maritime field or a relevant field
- Up-to-date knowledge of maritime practice and experience in maintenance and repair
- Affinity with the solid mechanics and materials engineering background
- Prior experience in mechanical testing and/or materials characterization is highly desirable
- A demonstrable good command of the Dutch and English language (at least level C1)
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including:
- A gross monthly salary between € 3.896,- and € 5.936,- (VSNU profile Researcher 3 scale 11)
- An end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and holiday allowance of 8% of your gross annual salary
- 10.7 holiday weeks per year with a 40-hour working week
- Entitlement to various types of leave, such as (un)paid parental leave, care leave, adoption and foster care leave and various other arrangements
- A travel allowance for your commute, an NS-Business Card, your own AUAS bicycle or a tax incentive to purchase your own bicycle
