Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Professional Doctorate Candidate to join our team at AUAS. The successful candidate will conduct practice-oriented research that contributes to the sustainability, safety, and competitiveness of the maritime sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct practice-oriented research in the maritime sector, focusing on sustainability, safety, and competitiveness.
  • Develop and apply novel repair methodologies, such as the cold spray method, to enable sustainable restoration of parts of high value with an efficient repair process.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, including professors and fellow researchers, to advance the research agenda.
  • Participate in support courses to further develop research skills and contribute to the development of the maritime sector.

Requirements

  • A completed university of applied sciences or university master's degree in the maritime field or a relevant field, such as Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of maritime practice and experience in maintenance and repair.
  • Affinity with solid mechanics and materials engineering.
  • Prior experience in mechanical testing and/or materials characterization is highly desirable.
  • A good command of the Dutch and English language (at least level C1).
  • Demonstrable research and publication experience is a plus.

What We Offer

  • A gross monthly salary between € 4,361.31 and € 6,114.87, based on a full-time appointment and depending on education and experience.
  • An end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary.
  • 10.7 holiday weeks per year with a 40-hour working week.
