We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced researcher to join our team as a Professional Doctorate Candidate in the maritime field. This is a unique opportunity to conduct practice-oriented research that contributes to the sustainability, safety, and competitiveness of the maritime sector.
About the RoleAs a Professional Doctorate Candidate, you will be responsible for conducting research that addresses the needs of the maritime sector. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to develop and implement research projects that focus on the development of new capabilities to enable a sustainable restoration of parts of high value with an efficient repair process.

- Develop and implement research projects that focus on the development of new capabilities to enable a sustainable restoration of parts of high value with an efficient repair process.
- Work closely with our multidisciplinary team to develop and implement research projects.
- Collaborate with industry partners to ensure that research is relevant and applicable to real-world problems.
- A completed university of applied sciences or university master's degree in the maritime field or in another relevant field.
- Up-to-date knowledge of maritime practice and experience in maintenance and repair.
- Affinity with the solid mechanics and materials engineering background.
- Prior experience in mechanical testing and/or materials characterization is highly desirable.
- A demonstrable good command of the Dutch and English language (at least level C1).
- A gross monthly salary between € 4,361.31 and € 6,114.87 (VSNU profile Researcher 3 scale 11), based on a full-time appointment and depending on education and experience.
- An end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and holiday allowance of 8% of your gross annual salary.
- 10.7 holiday weeks per year with a 40-hour working week.
