Deck Officer Trainee

As a Deck Cadet at Anthony Veder, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet of vessels.

Working closely with experienced Deck Officers, you will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of vessel operations, including navigation, cargo handling, and maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with navigation tasks, including chart plotting and monitoring of weather conditions
  • Support cargo operations, including loading, unloading, and securing of cargo
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks on deck equipment and machinery
  • Participate in safety drills and emergency response training
  • Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry regulations

To succeed in this role, you should have a strong interest in the maritime industry and a desire to pursue a career as a Deck Officer. You should also possess excellent communication and teamwork skills, as you will be working closely with a diverse team onboard our vessels.

Requirements:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid STCW Basic Safety Training certification
  • Proficiency in English language (both written and spoken)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in challenging weather conditions
  • Willingness to travel and work on board vessels for extended periods
  • Basic knowledge of navigation and maritime regulations
  • Attention to detail and ability to perform tasks accurately
